Editorial Brand Photography, Brisbane
I make editorial brand photography for Brisbane businesses, mostly in hospitality, wellness and fashion, on film where it suits and digital where it does not.
Most brand photography is made to be inoffensive. Bright, even, smiling, and forgotten a second after it is seen. I work the other way: fewer images, made with some care, that give a place or a product a point of view. The goal is photographs people stop on, which is the whole reason a business pays for them.
In practice that means planning the shoot around how your customers actually experience you. The light at opening time, the table by the window, the staff who have been there longest. It is editorial in approach, even when the images end up on a menu board.
Hospitality and cafés
Venues, food, people and the quiet parts of service, for websites, launches and social channels. The Crème series is a working example.
Wellness and spas
Calm, unhurried imagery for studios, clinics and spas, made without the stock-library clichés. See the Regen Spa series.
Fashion and retail brands
Product-in-life and lookbook work for labels and stores. The Maison Kitsuné series was shot on 35mm film.
Questions
Film or digital for a brand shoot?
It depends on how the images will be used and how quickly you need them. Film gives a distinct look; digital turns around faster. Plenty of shoots use both.
Do I own the photographs?
You receive a licence for the uses we agree up front: web, social, print or advertising. Copyright stays with me, which is standard for commissioned photography in Australia.
How far ahead should we book?
Two to four weeks is typical, longer for multi-day or multi-location shoots.
